i wondered how it managed to stay upright
despite it being so tall and thin.
it was the roots.
then i remembered
without roots, the tree would become "top-heavy"
and will bend over when strong winds blow.
the roots in our lives are our own quiet time with God,
without it, we will bend over when the winds of adversity begin to blow.
roots are :
unseen.
a thriving root system grows underground, so, similarly, in own daily lives we should just take some time and disappear from the public scene, withdraw from the attratctions of internet and television(TeeVeeeee!) and just enjoy solitude with God.
for taking in.
when we slip away to be with God in study and in prayer, we recieve. Our spiritual health and growth is ensured. As we spend time woth God, He supplies us with the strength we need and encourages us in the pursuit of His Ways.
for storage.
Roots serve as a reservoir of what we need. When we send our roots into God's Word, His Springs of Living Water, we begin to collect life-giving water. Then God's Word begins to create a reservoir of hope and strength in him. And when times of trouble approaches us and we feel weak, we can reach into that hidden reservoir and just draw out from what God has given us.
for support.
spending time with God cultivates a strong and healthy root system
-so we wont bend over when winds blow. (:

im having trouble with quiet time myself :x
but lets all grow strong in the Lord together, yeah?
